Alerts and reports walkthrough
Email alerts and reports: SMTP, recipients, the 17 alert rules, the elected sender, and the daily, weekly and monthly reports with preview, send now and schedule. BoxLang+.
What it shows
- Where it lives: Settings, then Notifications. Admin only, BoxLang plus.
- The main switch: Alerts are off until you turn them on.
- How mail is sent: BxLens sends the mail itself, over SMTP.
- The sender and the password: The password is never typed in the console.
- Send a test mail: See the answer of your SMTP server in plain words.
- Who gets mail: Up to fifty people, each with their own filters.
- Severity and categories: Warnings and critical, or critical only; none ticked means all.
- Reports, per person: The last column: daily, weekly, monthly.
- Fifteen alert rules: Server down to errors in the logs, all off.
- Switch an alert on: Then set its severity, its limits and how often it repeats.
- Turn the whole thing on: The main switch sends mail for the rules you chose.
- One server sends: The elected sender: the lowest id that is alive.
- Firing now, and mails sent: Firing mail once, reminders, then a resolved mail.
- Reports: Daily, weekly and monthly, for the whole cluster.
- Preview the weekly report: Nothing is sent by a preview.
- What is in a report: Highlights, totals, and a table per server.
- Daily and monthly: Same layout, a different period.
- Send one now: To everyone subscribed, or to one address.
- Schedule: Time and zone, weekday, day of the month.
- Let Lensy do it: Ask in plain words, then approve the change.
- Free and BoxLang plus: Notifications and reports are BoxLang plus; this is the current state.
