# Privacy notice

> **Draft for approval.** This text describes what the registration service does today. Ortus Solutions must approve it before the first release.

Version: **2026-10**. Applies to the registration of a BxLens server, on the [Register page](console/register.md). The debug bar and the console collect and send nothing to Ortus Solutions.

## What we collect

When you register a server:

| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and work email | To send you the registration key and to know who registered |
| Your company, if you give it | Optional. To understand who uses BxLens |
| The server name you register, and whether it runs in a container | The key is tied to it |
| The versions of BxLens, BoxLang and Java, the operating system, and your license state (`none`, `trial`, `expired` or `plus`) | To support the product |
| Whether you ticked the optional box for product news | To know whether we may send it |
| The date of the registration and the privacy notice version you agreed to | A record of your consent |

We do **not** collect anything about your application, your data, your code, your requests or your users. BxLens sends this form once, when you register. It never sends anything else to us, and the key is checked on your server with no call.

## What we do with it

* Send you the key by email, and send it again if you ask for it.
* Start and track the 14 day trial of the BoxLang+ features of BxLens, one trial per email address.
* Tell the BoxLang team at Ortus Solutions that a server was registered (an email to the team with the data above).
* Send product news about BxLens and BoxLang **only if you ticked the optional box** on the form. The box is unticked by default, registering does not need it, and every message has an unsubscribe link. Without it we send you only the registration key and messages about your registration.

## Where it is kept and who handles it

* A database in Amazon Web Services (DynamoDB, region US East, N. Virginia).
* Email is sent through Postmark.
* Both act for Ortus Solutions. We do not sell the data and do not share it with anyone else.

## How long

Until you ask for it to be removed.

## Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. Write to **boxlang@ortussolutions.com** from the address you registered with. We remove the record. A key that was already sent keeps working on your server, because it is checked offline.
